In this section, you can address common questions efficiently.

How do I choose the right weighing scale for my business in Kenya?

The right scale depends on four factors: (1) the maximum weight you need to measure (capacity), (2) the precision required (readability), (3) the environment where it will be used (dusty, wet, outdoor), and (4) whether you need data output for software integration. Our sales team will guide you through these requirements when you contact us.

How much does a weighing scale cost in Kenya?

Weighing scale prices in Kenya vary widely depending on the type and capacity. Contact us for an accurate quote tailored to your needs.

What is the difference between a legal-for-trade scale and a regular scale?

A legal-for-trade scale (also called a verified or approved scale) meets the requirements of Kenya's Weights and Measures Act and is approved by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) for commercial transactions. If you are selling goods by weight — such as in a butchery, grocery, or commodity trading business — you are required by law to use a legal-for-trade scale. Regular scales may be accurate but are not approved for trade and can result in fines during KEBS inspections.

How often do weighing scales need to be calibrated in Kenya?

Under the Weights and Measures Act (Cap. 513 of the Laws of Kenya), commercial weighing instruments must be verified and stamped annually by an authorized verifier. Scalestech offers annual calibration contracts that ensure your scales remain compliant at all times. For industrial and laboratory scales, we recommend calibration every 6–12 months depending on usage intensity.

Can Scalestech supply and install weighing equipment in Uganda or Tanzania?

Yes. We regularly supply and install equipment in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Zambia. Our Nairobi team coordinates regional projects including customs documentation, shipping, and in-country installation. Reach out through this page or email us to discuss your regional requirement.

Does Scalestech offer a warranty on scales and POS equipment?

Yes. All new products come with a manufacturer-backed warranty of at least 12 months. Scalestech also offers extended warranty and maintenance contracts. In the event of a warranty claim, our Nairobi service centre processes replacements or repairs within 5–7 working days for most products.
