Industries We Serve

Retail & Supermarkets

Kenya's retail sector is one of the fastest-growing in sub-Saharan Africa, with chains such as Naivas, QuickMart, and Carrefour continuing to expand their footprint beyond Nairobi into secondary cities. Accurate weighing is non-negotiable across every tier of this supply chain — from the corner duka to the modern supermarket floor.

Scalestech supplies retail weighing scales purpose-built for Nairobi CBD shops and busy market stalls, where speed and readability matter as much as accuracy. For supermarkets and chain retailers, our receipt-printing scales integrate directly with point-of-sale systems, eliminating manual entry and reducing shrinkage. Pre-packaged goods counters benefit from our label-printing scales, which comply with KEBS pre-packaging regulations and print barcoded, date-stamped labels automatically.

Agriculture & Dairy

Agriculture contributes approximately 22% of Kenya's GDP (World Bank), and accurate weighing underpins every link in the agricultural value chain — from farm gate to processor to exporter. Scalestech serves Kenya's most productive agricultural counties with equipment designed for the field, the dairy co-op, and the milling plant alike.

In the Rift Valley — Kenya's premier dairy belt — our livestock and cattle scales handle the daily weighing demands of ranches and cooperatives supplying New KCC and Brookside. Bulk milk collection points rely on our stainless-steel milk dump tank scales to record deliveries accurately and fairly, reducing disputes between farmers and processors. Further north in Eldoret and Trans Nzoia, Unga Group and independent maize and wheat processors depend on our grain scales for batching and outloading. At JKIA, horticulture exporters rely on Scalestech platform scales to meet the strict weight tolerances demanded by European and Middle Eastern buyers — ensuring Kenya's fresh produce flies on spec, every time. In Kisumu, fish processors at the Lake Victoria landing sites use our purpose-built fishery scales, built to withstand humidity and daily wash-downs.

Manufacturing & Production

Kenya's manufacturing base — anchored in Export Processing Zones at Athi River and the emerging Tatu City industrial park — demands weighing solutions that can match the pace of continuous production without compromising KEBS trade-use compliance. Scalestech is the preferred supplier for EPZ manufacturers, FMCG warehouses, and heavy-process industries across Nairobi's industrial corridor.

Our heavy-duty platform scales and floor scales handle incoming raw materials and outbound finished goods across shift cycles. pallet truck scales to eliminate double-handling — weigh and move in a single pass. For bagging operations, Scalestech supplies automated bagging scales that integrate with filling heads for consistent, regulation-weight output. Continuous-process plants benefit from our in-line belt scales, which measure material flow without interrupting production. All trade-use scales are supplied with KEBS-compliant verification certificates.

Need a KEBS-compliant verification certificate? Scalestech's calibration engineers are authorised to issue certificates for trade-use scales across all 47 counties.

Transport & Logistics

Kenya's Northern Corridor — stretching from Mombasa Port inland to Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the DRC — carries tens of millions of tonnes of freight annually. Overloaded trucks cause disproportionate road damage and create significant NTSA compliance exposure for fleet operators. Accurate axle and gross vehicle weight measurement isn't just good practice; it is a legal requirement under Kenya's Traffic Act.

Scalestech designs and installs both static weighbridges — embedded in concrete for permanent logistics hubs — and portable weighbridges up to 100 tonnes capacity for flexible deployment across construction sites and remote locations. We serve logistics hubs at Mombasa Port, Nairobi Inland Container Depot (ICD), and Kisumu Inland Port, as well as private logistics parks along the SGR corridor. Our weighbridges integrate with vehicle management systems and can generate timestamped, vehicle-registered weight tickets for audit trails.

Food & Beverage

Food safety in Kenya is governed by both KEBS standards and HACCP principles — and weighing equipment that cannot be properly cleaned is a food safety hazard in its own right. Scalestech supplies food-industry weighing solutions built from the ground up for hygienic environments: waterproof, corrosion-resistant, and fully wash-down safe.

Our IP68-rated stainless steel scales are the standard choice for butcheries, wet markets, and fish processors — where water, blood, and cleaning chemicals are present throughout every shift. Mombasa's thriving fish processing industry, which exports to international markets, relies on Scalestech IP68 platform scales that meet international cold-chain and hygiene specifications. Nairobi's bakeries and juice manufacturers use our bench and floor scales for portion control and recipe batching, while HACCP audit trails are maintained via integrated thermal printers. All food-environment scales carry relevant ingress protection ratings and are supplied with materials certifications on request.

Medical & Health

From Kenyatta National Hospital to the smallest Level 2 facility in a rural county, the accuracy of a patient's weight can influence drug dosing, clinical decisions, and long-term health monitoring. Kenya's ongoing NHIF transformation — expanding both facility count and equipment procurement budgets at county health facilities — is driving rapid growth in demand for medical-grade weighing equipment across the country.

Scalestech supplies SECA-standard height-weight stations for outpatient departments and triage areas, baby and infant scales for maternity wards and child welfare clinics, and BMI analyser scales for nutrition programmes and wellness clinics. Nairobi's rapidly expanding fitness sector — from large gym chains to boutique studios — uses our body composition scales for client assessment and progress tracking. Pharmacy chains use our Class II precision bench scales for controlled substance dispensing. All medical scales are supplied with calibration certificates and are compatible with standard nursing workflows.

Pharmaceutical & Laboratory

Pharmaceutical manufacturers and university research laboratories require weighing instruments that operate far beyond the tolerances of commercial scales. At readabilities down to 0.0001 g, a single microgram error can compromise a formulation — which is why Scalestech's laboratory and pharmaceutical range is built to GMP and ISO standards from the ground up.

Nairobi-based manufacturers rely on Scalestech analytical balances and precision balances for dispensing and in-process checks, with full audit-trail documentation and built-in GLP compliance. University research departments at the University of Nairobi, JKUAT, and Strathmore use our instruments for both teaching labs and funded research projects. We also supply moisture analysers for quality control in food, chemical, and pharmaceutical production.

Mining, Construction & Energy

Kenya's infrastructure boom — from expressways and dams to affordable housing programmes — has driven consistent demand for weighing solutions that can operate in harsh, outdoor, and potentially hazardous environments. Scalestech's heavy-industry range is rated for dust, vibration, and explosive atmospheres where required.

Quarrying operations in Machakos use our in-motion belt weighers to monitor stone and aggregate output in real time. Concrete batching plants rely on our batching scales and hopper systems for consistent mix quality and reduced materials waste.
